Who are we?
On behalf of Aletty, Teun, Lieke and Tess Schilders and the entire team, we welcome you to "The Negende Zaeligheyt"
The name The Negende Zaeligheyt does not exist by accident. It originated over 50 years ago. Wim and Riet Schilders (the first generation) bought an old farm on De Witrijt in 1967. From the beginning, people came to enjoy the peace and nature. Over the years, the company has changed several times in terms of target group.
In the beginning, families came to vacation in the meadow with the caravan. Which then grew and as many as 300 children could stay here overnight.
From the groups of children, schools, sports clubs, companies and families came the demand for activities.
Frank (deceased) and Aletty (the second generation) the son and daughter-in-law of Wim and Riet started this. After receiving youth groups for a number of years, we started focusing on a different target group. People who really come here for a bit of rest, space and nature. Nowadays, instead of 300 people, we can receive 'only' 114 people on our entire farm.
The groups that came to do activities were hungry and thirsty after the activities. For the first few years this was taken care of in the backyard. After a while, the restaurant was built for this purpose and in addition to the groups that came to eat, more and more people from outside came to eat or drink something. This eventually grew into the restaurant that is there today.
In 2017 Teun joins the business (the third generation). After over 25 years of hosting groups for activities such as; climbing, hand archery, tunnels under the ground, raft building, kayaking and all kinds of rope bridges over the water, we wanted to do something different with that too. The old activity area was turned into a mini campground and the old pond was changed to a fishing pond.
Since January 2020, Wendy and Jolijn Adams have become the restaurant's operators.
In 2023, Teun and Lieke (Teun's wife who also works with the company) became proud parents of their daughter Tess. She is now the fourth generation walking around at De Negende Zaeligheyt.
